I think that we still know way too little to even hope to predict any effect of disturbances (say sulfide mining) on the different species, the communities, and the whole ecosystem.

- Assessment of diversity on a large scale (more exploration needed) - Connectivity studies: how unique is each population? Would the destruction of a population effectively reduce intraspecific diversity? - How sensitive to changes are the different species? Is fast recovery possible or is their growth so slow species are unlikely to recover from major disturbance.
